Things will never be the same - not ever.

We just aren’t ready for this.

It’s only been a few weeks since the world shut down.  And so far, it’s clear that nothing will ever be the same. It’s such an unusual consideration; that an event – one solitary event – is having a profound effect on all of us at the same exact time.  We can all be reasonably certain that this will change us, our children, and the way we interact for at least a generation.

What lasting results could we see from this? Well, apart from the no-touch society we are about to become all over the world, we will see digitalization explode faster than we can blink.  And while I’m saddened by all those that will be negatively impacted (and I hope the experts are so very wrong about what COVID-19 is about to release unto the world), I also so see the upside of FINALLY leveraging technology to change the way we do… well, everything.

When we come out of this, we will see healthcare revamped to accommodate online doctor’s visits as a matter of practice.  We will see online ordering for restaurants and coffeeshops become the norm – and not only that, but they will hone the process for distribution to a fine art so as to provide a level of convenience we can’t even imagine.  We will see many more people become gig workers, especially as the economy spins out of control.

Most of us won’t make it through this without a significant impact to our lives, for at least a short period.  If you have access to employee assistance programs, please do not hesitate to contact your HR service centers to get help with any depression or mental health issues.  And let’s hope that we can stay home to flatten the curve and save each other.

Please stay safe.
